The key frame is the structure under the keys. That includes the wooden frame, the balance and front pins, the back felt, the balance and the front punching felts.

It needed a thorough cleaning. All felts were replaced with new genuine Steinway and the pins polished. I also decided to remove a plank that was only used for the player piano mechanism.

The Steinway that I'm restoring was originally a player piano similar to the one on the video.

All the player mechanism has been removed in the past. It now functions as a normal grand piano.

Steinway & Sons, also known as Steinway, is an American-German piano company, founded in 1853 in Manhattan by German piano builder Heinrich Engelhard Steinweg (later known as Henry E. Steinway).

The company's growth led to the opening of a factory in New York City, United States, and a factory in Hamburg, Germany. The factory in Queens supplies the Americas and the factory in Hamburg supplies the rest of the world.

Steinway has been described as a prominent piano company, known for making pianos of high quality and for inventions within the area of piano development. Steinway has been granted 126 patents in piano making.

The model “O” designed by Henry Ziegler was introduced in 1902.
