The wippens.

Between the hammers and the keys come the wippens.

They needed a thorough cleaning. I also replaced the set of heel cloth (white felt) that was worn out and lubricated the centre pins.

Steinway's tubular metallic action frame.

25th of November

This type of action frame has been patented by Steinway in 1868 and is still used (by Steinway only today.

I painted the action brackets. I have to say the brackets were the perfect guinea pigs to test the paint colour that I will use on the iron frame.

Also attached to the frame are these little guys called the jack buttons.

The felts had to be replaced.

I also replaced the hammer rail cloth (in red).
